Hello! Last Sunday, I had reunion dinner with my stepdad's family. As usual, it was a steamboat/teppanyaki dinner.




Sea cucumbers, which I ate for the first time on Monday and didn't quite like. Mum and Lyssa didn't even wanna try it, looking at its texture.


Scallops, which are Lyssa's favourites.


Our favourite mushrooms forever and ever. I think it's more butter than mushroom but hey, what are special occasions for if not pigging out right? :)

My sister asked the Question of the Dragon Year: "what is abalone, sia? mushroom?" and my mum said she takes after me and my onion-ring-made-of-potato theory. #sista4lyf

Then Lyssa said her abalone comment was "one of the stupidest things" she's ever said, so I told her not to lie to herself, it wasn't. She's said way stupider things and we had another round of laughter.

There was crab in the soup, and Ah Ma simply pushed out the meat in the crab leg with a chopstick. Mad #skillz.

Monday was Chinese New Year!


This is my 15-year-old sister who has 10 months to turning sixteen.


This one (as Shereen says) turning eighteen forever. Hahahaha.

Aside from taking photos and eating, we also played mahjong.

Lyssa had so much luck, she won three rounds, I bet because she was wearing the blue dress (apparently this lunar year, blue is a lucky colour??). My mum, my stepdad, Lyssa and I were playing, and the tiles I discarded were all the tiles Lyssa wanted. Sheesh.

We didn't gamble, though. I kept losing and I couldn't recognise the Chinese numerical characters. Whatever. They're so silly. Bridge is a smarter game. (Abeh perangai sore loser eh.)

Monday night/Tuesday morning was a mix of miracle and mistake.

These are the people who are the miracles: Atiqah, Han, Shahida, Fiq, Mike, Huda and Khalis, in no order of importance, truly. I have the best friends/sisters/brothers (not limited to the ones listed in the line above, the rest of you should know). Thank God.

I met the Tasties at Katong, where we had Smith's fish and chips for lunch.




Fiq, Tiqs and Shah had dory and chips.


Han and I had the cod.

I'd asked the staff there for the bestseller, and they said cod, but don't listen to them, they're lying because cod is more expensive on the menu. We unanimously agreed the dory was better.

After having the fish and chips, we headed to Katong Lick for ice-cream! The decor there is pretty! There were lights in birdcage installations. More ideas for my room!

Oh, Fiq said she'd help me paint a mural and Khalis didn't say no to helping me with painting/constructing shelves/noticeboard (the circumstances of that day were rather... leading though, but I know they're both sincere).

I love my friends long time. Actually I wanna ask Husna too, I wonder if she'd be interested to help if she's not busy... Imma ask her soon.

After Lick, I went to join my family in CNY visiting and collected angpaos of course, hehhehheh!


Every year we go to this house, and see this thing, it's supposed to have 100 birds, and every year there are people counting whether there are exactly 100. I think I might have blogged this before, pardon this old lady's memory.

That was my holiday, it was a pretty good holiday (despite the ulcers from heaty food and sleepless nights)! Alhamdulillah!
